Raise public awareness of local historic preservation and restoration issues.
Educate property owners on best practices when undertaking restoration projects.
Energize heritage tourism in Brownsville by highlighting a number of our city’s most unique and architecturally relevant historic places.
OUR GOALS
The development of our website serves as a free preservation resource to ensure property owners have access to informative materials as they consider rehabilitating their homes and businesses.
“Preservation Spotlights” run as advertisements in The Brownsville Herald to promote structures throughout our city that have already been restored or are undergoing restoration. These Spotlights will invigorate public awareness and local heritage tourism.
"Preservation Matters" yard signs will be placed in front of 50 homes that are at least 50-years-old to promote community pride and drive local preservation awareness and heritage tourism. A walking or driving tour some of these historic homes will be held in May 2018.
